ABOUT THE HOME

This Donald McDonald cabin is very well kept and ideal for a small family.  This 2 bedroom, one bath home has cathedral ceilings throughout creating a spacious feel to it.   The living room anchors one half of the home with 2 large sliding glass doors out to a deck and a beautiful stone fireplace. It has lots of warm wood accents.  The kitchen has a small dishwasher and is well stocked.  The kitchen table has a large picture window looking out to trees and ridge views.  The bathroom is good sized and has a shower stall.  The home also has a washer and dryer. One bedroom has a double bed and the other one has a double bunk bed.  Snuggle up by the  fireplace during the chilly winter or there is ample space for star gazing on one of the two decks during those warm, summer nights.  Surrounded by trees and lovely mule ear in the summer, it's easy to appreciate the beautiful nature year round.

ABOUT THE AREA
Nature at your doorstep....

Bear Valley is a small mountain town in Alpine county in the Central Sierra Nevada. Surrounded by wilderness, granite peaks, alpine lakes and forest lands it is considered by many to be a national treasure. There are tons of family friendly activities close at hand including skiing and snowboarding in winter, kayaking and biking in the summer. For the romantics; breathtaking sunsets, secluded swimming holes surrounded by wildflowers, stargazing and fine dining keep people coming back!

Bear Valley is part of both the scenic Ebbetts pass byway and Highway 4 corridor - an area of natural beauty that starts down in Angels Camp and Murphys with rolling vineyards, 30+ wine tasting rooms, boutique stores, restaurants, concerts and events. Further up the hill, Arnold offers guests the last chance for a drug store, grocery chain, banking and equipment before we head up past the Big Trees State Park (home of the giant Sequoia) into the high country.

THE VILLAGE

Bear Valley Village is a small residential village at 7200 in Alpine County. In winter, Ebbetts pass closes and Bear Valley becomes isolated to the rest of the county. Thus Bear Valley, although small, is pretty self contained!

The village offers several dining options. Casual bar food in the Grizzly Diner, Pizza at Skyhigh and a more elevated experience at Creekside. Opening hours vary, we suggest always checking the Bear Valley Resort website for updates. There is a gas station and two small general stores for basic supplies and firewood. We even have a Tesla charging station in the village.

Bear Valley offers the closest skiing to the Central Valley and South Bay. We are a 2 hour drive from Stockton.

Bear Valley is at 7200 feet and can receive heavy winter snow. Our highways are typically very well maintained, but guests should always carry chains, even with AWD/4WD. Many of the residential roads in the village are only groomed, not plowed during the winter season, so cabins and homes are accessible only by snowmobile or ski in/ski out. Condos and amenities are all easily accessible by vehicle with ample parking. Please check to make sure you are booking a unit suitable for your personal mode of transportation.

SEASONAL INFO

In Summer, the area is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and romantics alike. Incredible sunsets, alpine lakes, granite topped mountains are inspiring backdrops for campers, bikers, disc golfers, boaters, photographers and hikers to enjoy. Cycling enthusiasts come for the Death Ride each year and the Bear Valley Music Festival is a huge draw and has been bringing crowds from all over California and the world for 50 years!

In Winter, a deep blanket of snow typically covers the ground and residential village roads close to standard vehicle traffic! There is cross country and downhill skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing - all right on your doorstep. Snowmen, snow-angels, snowball fights? Oh yeah! A free shuttle runs between the village and Bear Valley resort during the winter season. The shuttle stop is right outside our office, you can check the schedule online, or at the General Store/ deli in the lodge close to the shuttle stop.
